I give to The Well because I believe in its mission. I have been through some challenging times myself, and it is not fun to go it alone. The Well does a good job of walking with people, so they don’t have to walk alone.
I know that transportation is often an issue for clients of The Well, and biking can be a good solution for the people who are physically able to do it. And they gain the benefit of exercise as well.
At the beginning of this year, we started making a monthly donation through auto-debit. I also volunteer at the Resource Center, so I get to see and know clients. It is great to see the donations come full circle—to have a front row seat to see what God is doing as the funds are put to use.
I called The Well looking for help to pay my utility bill. They explained that help started with a friendly meeting with Resource Center staff members and scheduled me for the next day. They answered all my questions and said they looked forward to meeting me tomorrow. I’ve reached the end of my rope, and I really could use some help.
I love helping here. It is a positive atmosphere and I can sense God’s presence. It is good to feel that I am helping in some small way.
The Well is changing lives. We meet people where they are and walk with them. I love listening to people’s stories and getting to know them.
Working the cash register, stocking shelves, and helping customers is a good fit for me. It is a nice atmosphere and a lot of fun.
Hi, Bob again. Still working with The Well—in fact, I made it into the Getting Ahead. It meets every Monday, and I never miss because my kids won’t let me. They love eating together with all the families and can’t wait for their “kids’ time.”
We just finished the evaluation part—like looking in the mirror to see where my life went off the tracks. It was so tough that one week I filled out a prayer request card, and someone prayed for me during the whole class. I’ve never had anyone do that…
I came to The Well looking for help to pay my utility bill and found a lot more than that. We sat down for an hour over coffee and goodies, and they wanted to hear my story—it’s not pretty. Six months ago my wife took our stash from the cookie jar, left the kids at the sitter, and never came back. Things have gone downhill since then; I started hitting the bottle most every night, the babysitter quit, and I missed a lot of work. Got laid off a month ago and haven’t been able to find any s…
We started giving to The Well after I began volunteering there. We were excited about the programs and how much people put their hearts into this work. It’s great to be part of it beyond the volunteering!
